NETGEAR® RangeMax™ NEXT Router “Shreds” Wireless-N Competition in Maximum PC Magazine Head-to-Head Test of Draft 11n-Compliant Wireless Routers
NETGEAR RangeMax Next Wireless Router Gigabit Edition (WNR854T) Praised for Integrated Gigabit Switch and “Good Looks,” Beats Linksys WRT300N in Data Speed and Range
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – October 11, 2006 – NETGEAR, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that the draft 802.11n-compliant RangeMax Next Wireless Router (WNR854T) beat the Linksys WRT300N in a head-to-head review published in the October issue of Maximum PC magazine.
According to the article written by Maximum PC Executive Editor Michael Brown, the WNR854T not only provided superior speed and range performance, but also exhibited “looks so sharp that we were skeptical its concealed antennae could deliver throughput and range.”
“Linksys’ Wireless-N gets shredded in a head-to-head contest with NETGEAR’s WNR854T – especially at distance,” wrote Brown in the article. “At close range (within five feet), NETGEAR’s router was 21 percent faster. That advantage grew to nearly 50 percent at moderate range (25 feet away, with four gypsum walls in between), and it exploded to 371 percent when we moved to our outdoor patio (75 feet from the access point).”
“The results of Maximum PC’s product review validates the efforts of our product development and engineering teams to deliver a Wireless-N product to market that is differentiated from the competition in aspects that truly matter to the end users – performance and appearance,” stated David Henry, Director of Product Marketing – Consumer Products. “As we continue to improve the performance of our draft 802.11n compliant RangeMax Next product family, NETGEAR is leading the industry in driving the speed, range and interoperability of these products to the levels promised by the upcoming 802.11n standard.”
