NETGEAR Appoints Albert Liu as General Counsel
Technology Veteran Added as Legal Counsel to Expand Executive Team
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — October 26, 2004 — NETGEAR, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced the appointment of Albert Liu to the newly created position of general counsel. NETGEAR will benefit from Mr. Liu’s legal expertise in the areas of regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and general contracts, mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property affairs within technology and corporate environments.

Albert Liu brings nearly a decade of relevant legal experience to his new position with NETGEAR. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Liu acted as general counsel and secretary for Yipes Enterprise Services, an emerging telecommunications services company overseeing all legal matters. From 2000 through 2004, he served as general counsel, director of human resources and secretary of Turnstone Systems, Inc., a telecommunications equipment provider where he counseled senior management and the board of directors on public company reporting compliance and corporate legal issues. Mr. Liu began practicing law with the New York firm of Sullivan & Cromwell, advising clients on all aspects of corporate and securities law, leading public and private securities offerings, and negotiating and finalizing venture capital investments and contracts. Before entering the legal field, he was a software engineer at Tandem Computers.
Mr. Liu holds a J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of Law, graduating magna cum laude, and a B.S. degree in computer science and B.A. degree in political science from Stanford University.
